The materials we use are important to us. Here is the low down on what we use and why we use it!

Bandana bibs

BAMBOO: we use bamboo fleece as the bottom layer of all our bibs. This fabric has great eco credentials and practical properties. Bamboo requires very little water to grow, rarely requires pesticides or fertilisers and can reach 75 feet in just 45-60 days.  Bamboo fabric is naturally anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and hypoallergenic and is extremely absorbent - typically 60% more absorbent than cotton.  It is also incredibly soft and comfortable against the skin.

UPCYCLED FABRICS: in our Super-eco bandana range we upcycle fabrics for the top layer, which means taking fabrics which have already been used for one purpose such as a tablecloth or piece of clothing and making it into something even more fabulous!  Where we can, we use 100% cotton, but occasionally we use cotton blends, linen or other fabrics, depending on what is available, what feels nice against the skin and what looks good.  Sometimes there is no clear labelling to indicate what the fabric is so we label it simply 'upcycled fabric'.
Upcycling textiles avoids many of the polluting and energy intensive processes needed to make textiles from virgin materials.  In other words, if you are not making a fabric from scratch, you are not consuming energy in producing it and you are not using dyes and fixing agents with the problems associated with their use and manufacture.
A large proportion of the upcycled fabric comes from charity shops meaning that CuteToots regularly contribute financially to various charities.
Because of the nature of upcycled fabrics, there will only ever be a finite number of each design available and once it's gone, it's gone, so if you like a certain design, grab it while you can!
We have recently introduced our 'eco' range of bandanas which, like our 'super-eco' range, still use snuggly soft and super absorbent eco bamboo fleece, but have new fabrics on top.  This was in response to our customers who were requesting designs that we couldn't always supply from upcycled fabrics.

Dummy clips, hat clips and mitten clips

The clips we use are nickel-free and certified lead-free, and the dummy clips are hand painted using water-based, solvent-free non-toxic paints and varnish which fulfill child safety requirements. The ribbons are oeko-tex certified meaning they have been manufactured in an environmentally responsible way.
